Lithium-ion polymer packages (LiPo) are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) packages.
The main advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly the ratio of capacity to size.
They are very small in size while maintaining a very high current efficiency, which allows you to choose the right package for virtually every AEG replica.
They do not have a memory effect. They can be charged very often, without prior discharge. Frequent charging is beneficial for this type of battery.
It should be remembered that the LiPo package should not be discharged below 3V per cell and not reloaded above 4.2V per cell.
Another advantage of LiPo packages is the small percentage degree of self-discharge. Unused package per month loses about 3-5% of energy. The package should be watched, because during very long storage there may be a discharge below the permissible minimum value (3V per cell) and irreversible chemical reactions that may cause deterioration of the package's properties, including its permanent damage, in extreme cases – ignition. An unused LiPo packet should be charged on average at about 70%.
With proper operation, the lifespan of LiPo packets is on average 500-700 cycles.
An important aspect is the temperature at which LiPo packets can work.
LiPo cells perform well at low temperatures.
They should be charged at room temperature.
To maintain the good condition of LiPo batteries, they should be balanced during charging using the service plug, which has most LiPo packages (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
